FIRST FREEDOM
Freedom from hunger, from thirst and poor nutrition, by ready access to fresh water and a diet to maintain full health and vigour.
EU STANDARDS & REGULATIONS
Animal welfare is rigorously governed by EU regulations that apply to the breeding, transport, and processing phases. Levoni has chosen to incorporate this issue into the company's ethical and value-driven framework.
ANIMAL WELFARE SUPPLY CHAIN LINE
Levoni has undertaken a continuous journey that sets far stricter standards than those outlined in current EU regulations for a select group of farms.
The company's approach is rooted in the Five Freedoms principle outlined by the Farm Animal Welfare Council in 1979.
Freedom from hunger, from thirst and poor nutrition, by ready access to fresh water and a diet to maintain full health and vigour.
Freedom from discomfort by providing an appropriate environment including shelter and a comfortable resting area.
Freedom from pain, injury or disease by prevention or rapid diagnosis and treatment.
Freedom to express (most) normal behaviour by providing sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the animal's own kind.
Freedom from fear and distress by ensuring conditions and treatment which avoid mental suffering.
